Good Advice

I saw this sign the other day and just had to show you all.

Good Ole Dan

I read an uplifting article today on the BBC website. It’s great to see our stars doing good and very few are courageous enough to support a LGBT organisation.

The article read:

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has filmed a public service announcement to help prevent suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.

Radcliffe made the film for The Trevor Project, a non-profit US organisation that runs a 24-hour helpline.

The 20-year-old actor said he knew many gay men when he was growing up.

“Then I went to school and (for) the first time I came across homophobia,” he said. “I had never encountered it before. It shocked me.”

He added: “I have always hated anybody who is not tolerant of gay men or lesbians or bisexuals. Now I am in the very fortunate position where I can actually help or do something about it.”

The public service film was shot at the Trevor Project’s offices on Wall Street, New York, and will be aired this spring.

Last year, the organisation revealed that Radcliffe had given them a “major donation”.

Wales 20-26 France

Yesterday saw only the second Friday night game in the 6 Nations. Played at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, it saw Wales clash with France. I’m sorry to say that Wales played very poorly and two silly mistakes led the way for France to score two very easy tries. It has taken me until now to recover from the defeat, so here are some pictures from the match showing the gorgeous Morgan Parra and Shane Williams scoring his 50th try for Wales.

Morgan Parra spins a pass.

Morgan just can’t leave Shane alone, and I can’t blame him.

Shane scores. Hurray! But alas, we still lose.

Screeve Updated

This week’s update see Nathan’s Surprise! Surprise! continue and a nice selection of short stories. Nathan provides us with a story about a biker travelling through Spain which reminds me of the time I rode through France and down into Spain. Jack Kendle has also given us a short story and vignette in his own unique and entertaining style. I have also given you two new links to Sebastian Wallace’s stories.

And lastly, there is a new short story from me. With the 6 Nations well under way I was inspired to write a rugby story. I hope you like it, even if you’re not a fan of rugby I’m sure you’ll like the story.

As always, let all our authors know if you are enjoying their stories as feedback encourages us all to keep writing.

Jesus Was Gay!

Well according to Elton John he was. In an interview with a US magazine, Elton says Jesus was a “super-intelligent gay man” and he was “compassionate”, “forgiving” and “understood human problems”.

I’m surprised this hasn’t caused more of a stir, but the Church of England was very relaxed about his comments saying “Sir Elton’s reflection that Jesus calls us all to love and forgive is one shared by all Christians… But insights into aspects of the historic person of Jesus are perhaps best left to the academics”

If it was true, then Dan Brown got it totally wrong with the Da Vinci Code.

My Choochie Face

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is in my neck of the woods this week and I went to the Theatre Royal last night to see it, with a young member of my family in tow. They say the stage car cost over one million pounds to create and it really does fly, with a little help. It is a great night out and well worth the high price to see it. We both loved it and so did all the kids in the audience.

Wales 31-24 Scotland

Seven minutes to go and Wales are ten points down; then the whole game changes. Scotland get two put in the sin bin and Wales play like they should have for the rest of the game. It was an amazing end to a lacklustre game for Wales. With the score level, the final play was amazing and I was on the end off my seat; the final try was brilliant for Wales to grasp the win.

Wales played terrible for most of the game, it was a game they should have won and they only did by the skin of their teeth. I hope they get it together for the next game.

Max Evans scores a try for Scotland in the 20th minute.

Lee Byrne’s try in the 56th minute start the Wales comeback.

Shane Williams touches down for the magnificent winning try.

Portraying the LGB community on the BBC

For all my readers in the UK, the BBC is holding a consultation about its portrayal of LGB people across its range of programmes.

It is a survey which asks your opinions on how we are represented, what they can do better and what they should do more of. If you want your opinion to be heard and possibly effect the future policy of the BBC then please participate. The link you need is below. At the end of the article is a link to the survey.
