After a late night last night watching the UK fail miserably at Eurovision I have finally woken up enough to upload this weekend’s update. We have a great new story from Alexander abd another two links to Seb Wallace stories.

My god, what has happened? Germany has won. This is the first time that a western european country has won since the UK in 1997. I suspect it has something to do with a recent change in voting structure and that 50% of the votes comes from a music professional panel. Congratulations to Germany and here is a picture of Lena, the winner. It just proves that any of the ‘Big Four’ can still win. And for those who are interested, the UK came last.

While we vote and wait for the inevitable voting of neighbouring countries voting for each other, here are some of the dodgy performances.
Georgia

Greece

Moldova

Serbia (The campest act this year)

Belarus

United Kingdom

And here are some of the sexy guys in the contest. To start with we begin with Bulgaria, who didn’t get through to the final.

Tom Dice for Belgium

Jon Lilygreen from Wales for Cyprus

Harel Skaat for Isreal

Josh Dubovie for the United Kingdom

Josh Dubovie is representing the UK this year with Pete Waterman’s (and Mike Stock’s) nod back to the eighties ‘That Sounds Good To Me’. I must say that we don’t stand a chance with this song.

Also, this year Wales is representing Cyprus. Jon Lilygreen is from Newport in Wales and with his band is performing ‘Life Looks Better In Spring.” So ‘Come On Wales!”

Sorry that there was no update last week but I have been working on a new short story. I was hoping to finish it ready for this week’s update but alas time ran out and I want enough time to edit it properly.
Those with eager eyes would have noticed several changes with the Screeve Blogs; I am bringing them all in house, mainly because I ran out if space on the blog host. I hope you like the new layout and the main portal page. And I also hope you enjoy this week’s offerings, all the links are below, as usual.

It’s the morning after the night before and we stand in new territory. Not since 1974 has the UK had a hung parliament and this morning we found that neither of our two largest parties, Labour or Conservative, have a majority. So now they are going to talk to the third largest party, Liberal Democrats, to see if they can form some sort of alliance. We may not know the outcome for several days. Those readers in the US or other places without a parliamentary democracy may want to search Wikipedia to learn about it.
There are two possible outcomes, as I see it. This could herald the start of collaborative politics where they work together for a consensus for the good of the country.
Or, it could all end horribly, with no party able to govern and being plunged into another General Election.
While the parties decide who to work with, the Queen is twiddling her thumbs, only if they cannot decide could she use her reserve powers and ask a leader to form a minority government.
The BBC have got a great picture on their website, this was after David Cameron held a press conference stating he would work with the Liberals on several key areas. Their headline?
Who Is In Bed With Who?

If you don’t know, it’s David Cameron (Conservative) on the left and Nick Clegg (Lib Dem) on the right. And Gordon Brown is nowhere to be seen. I suspect his days as Prime Minister are over.
